Making something out of nothing

Last weekend was an atypically slow few days for us. We didn't leave town, we didn't see any museums and we didn't spend much time out of our apartment. After several weeks of really perfect April weather, we had a couple days of the 40's and rainy. After traveling the last two weekends, we also needed a break. Not to mention that work had been really hectic last week and I didn't get home until 10:30pm on Friday night. So we took advantage of the time by relaxing and catching up on all those things that don't get done during a busy life.

Just as we were feeling the need to get out of our small apartment on Sunday afternoon the sun broke. So, we decided to go for a walk at our neighborhood park. It just so happens that our neighborhood park (only 3 blocks away) is the famous Champs de Mars where the Eiffel Tower stands. Apparently we weren't the only ones who were waiting for the sunshine to break. By the time we put on our shoes and made the 3 blocks to the Champs de Mars, there were thousands of people pouring into the park from all sides. In fact, a half hour later it almost looked like a completely different weekend. Kids were out running around, people were laying on blankets in the grass soaking up the sun, tourists were lining up for rides up the Eiffel Tower, Jen was buying soft serve ice cream and about a dozen Japanese brides and grooms were getting wedding photos taken! What a circus. Luckily, we still abide by our rule of always carrying a camera with us so we could share it with you.
